Dispatch

Sending a task from your phone to the Desktop app. See what it is, how it works, how it is used and what to watch for, with pictures and examples.

A paper airplane flies from a phone to a desktop computer, where a new window opens.

What it is

Dispatch is an ongoing conversation with that lives in , inside the . You message it a task from the Claude mobile app, and it decides how to handle it. When the task is development work, such as fixing a , updating dependencies, running tests or opening a , it starts a session in the Desktop app's tab. Research, document editing and spreadsheet work stay in Cowork.

How it works

  1. Pair the mobile app with Desktop
  2. Message Dispatch a task from phone
  3. Dispatch opens a Code session
  4. Phone gets a push when done

How to use it

  1. Ask directly — for example, "open a Claude Code session and fix the login bug"

  2. Code tab sidebar — the new session appears with your other sessions, in the group for the folder it runs in

  3. — your phone tells you when the session finishes or needs your approval

  4. Computer use — Dispatch sessions can use it too when it is on, but app approvals there expire after 30 minutes

Watch out

Dispatch needs a Pro or Max plan and is not available on Team or Enterprise plans. Claude runs on your own computer through the Desktop app, not in the . Setup and pairing are explained in a Claude help center article, and it differs from Remote Control, where you steer a session you already started yourself.
