Remote Control

Continuing a session from your phone or . See what it is, how it works, how it is used and what to watch for, with pictures and examples.

A glowing desktop computer is linked by a purple thread to a phone resting on a sofa cushion.

What it is

Remote Control links a session running on your computer to claude.ai/ or the mobile app. Claude keeps running on your machine the whole time, so your files, and tools stay where they are; only the screen you type into moves. Messages and progress stay in sync on every connected device, so you can start at your desk and continue from the sofa. Your computer only makes outgoing requests and never opens an incoming .

How it works

  1. Start Remote Control on your computer
  2. Open the link or scan QR
  3. Type from your phone or
  4. Claude keeps working on your computer

How to use it

  1. claude remote-control

server mode; it waits for connections and shows a session link, and the space bar shows a QR code

  2. claude --remote-control or --rc

a normal session that you can also drive from another device

  3. /remote-control or /rc

turn it on in a session you already have, with the conversation carried over; this also works in the Desktop app and

  4. /config

turn on so your phone hears when a task finishes or needs a decision

Watch out

The process on your computer must keep running; if you close the terminal or the app, the session goes offline. It needs a claude.ai sign-in on a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan ( are not supported), and while connected the conversation is stored on servers to keep devices in sync. Do not confuse it with --cloud, which starts a new session in the instead.
